Google is no longer accepting sitemap pings. Since the end of 2023, it is returning 404 status responses. Read more on https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2023/06/sitemaps-lastmod-ping
These 404 responses will be visible as errors (unexpected response) in your Google News Advanced Ping Log.
A minor release update, coming soon, will remove the Ping feature. This is to prevent confusing messages in your site admin. We are working hard on a replacement for the Ping feature but this will take some time. Please keep an eye out for the new (major) release.
